Research Group SEJ-572 Centro de Estudios Internacionales y Europeos del Area del Estrecho–CINTERGIB
Professor of the Jean Monnet Chair “Migration and Borders” ,together with some of the Teachers Collaborators, participate in the Research Group SEJ-572 Centro de Estudios Internacionales y Europeos del Área del Estrecho–CINTERGIB, headed by Professor Alejandro del Valle Galvez. Previously, they participate in the Research Group Estudios Internacionales y Europeos de Cádiz, the Andalusian Research Plan (PAI SEJ-357), headed by the Professor Jose Adolfo Martin Jimenez, Professor of Tax Law at the University of Cadiz.
The main lines of research of the group CINTERGIB are the Public International Law and International Relations, covering the following areas of research:
- Free movement of persons.
- Immigration and Immigration Law in the EU.
- Area of Freedom, Security and Justice in the EU.
- Economic and Social Cohesion and Structural Funds of the EU.
- European Courts – Court of Justice of the EU and Spain judicial application of European Union law.
- International and European borders.
- Gibraltar.
- International Cooperation in the Area of the Straits of Gibraltar.
- Morocco–Spain Relations
- Security and Defense in Europe.
- Police cooperation in Europe.
- Environment and Climate Changes.
- Migration and Development Cooperation.
Investigation projects
The Jean Monnet Chair has participated in several investigation projects. First, we have the so-called “R & D Projects”, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science. Through these projects, focusing on the area of the Straits of Gibraltar, the department has developed lines of research concerning about relations between Spain and Morocco and the Gibraltar dispute.
Secondly, we have the “Projects PCI”, made by the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID), which provide for cooperation between Spanish universities and third countries of Latin America and the southern Mediterranean. In the framework of these projects partnerships has been established between universities with the University Abdelmalek Essaâdi Tangier-Tetouan and the University of Tunis El Manar in Tunisia.
